Big things with little cars

LaLD Car Week 2019 - 1980's - Toyota Hilux Big Tyre

1:43 (really 1:40) Diapet Yonezawa - Toyota Hilux Pickup Big Tyre

I recently went to Japan and spent an entire day in the markets searching for little die-cast treasures. It was a blast and I have many tiny little cars of all makes and models to show for it. I will post some of my JDM collection here at a later time.

In one of the biggest shops, Mandarake, I found this sweet ‘Yota. Let it be known that, even in Japan, Toyota die-cast pickups proved very difficult to find. Actually this is the only non-car Toyota I made out with. You can find tons of Crowns and Camrys but rarely something 4x4. I guess I got lucky.

I have no knowledge of this brand Diapet or Yonezawa or its age or anything really, but I love it. Anyone with wisdom on this feel free to throw down in the comments.

Anyway, I really like the heft of this model. It has substantial weight to it. It is almost all real metal and it is made in Japan. Did you know the Japanese are known for their quality cars? Me too. ;)

I tried to branch out a bit for this shoot. Yeah, I said that. The only issue was I freakin’ dropped it and chipped the paint in one spot! I bought it “used” but it was in mint condition. No more. I’m devastated but I think I will manage.
