For my first day of my first LaLD Car Week, I’d like to submit my Matchbox Honda Civic Type R, from the 2009 40th Anniversary Superfast series. Sure, it’s not AUTOart or pinnacle piece, but I won’t have to compete with them at this scale!

This is the third generation of the Honda Civic Type R, and this 3-door hatchback version was primarily sold in European markets. The Japanese-market version was based on the 4-door sedan bodystyle similar to the North American Civic, and was more powerful, with 220 hp versus 200 hp for the European market hatchback. The 3-door version was later introduced to Japan in 2009, and discontinued for European markets in 2010 due to an inability to meet future emission requirements.

This Matchbox model is painted in a light greyish-silver with contrasting metallic graphite grey paint, as well as full tampos all around. The interior is dark, so little can be seen beyond the sporty bucket seats and RHD layout.

I bought this one at Toys R Us in 2010 during a trip to the U.S., where I think they had a few other models, but I only bought this one, though I wish I got some others.

This one still has the original plastic packaging, Superfast box, and the 40th Anniversary promo form, where mailing in 15 forms would get you a special mail-in-only 40th Anniversary Volkswagen T2 Bus.

Well, that’s about it, so good luck with the rest of the week, everyone, and most importantly - have fun!
