Hello and welcome to LaLD car week! Today I will be showing the Toyota Sports 800. The Toyota Sports 800 was designed by Tatsuo Hasegawa. The concept version of this car, the Toyota Publica Sports, was debuted at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1962. When this went into production, It was toyota’s first sports car. Without this we might not have had the 2000 gt, AE86 and gt86*
The actual car went into production in 1965 wth a 800cc engine. It was one of the first production cars to have a removable “targa” top. It is said that only 3,131 s800's were built between 1965 and 1969 by Toyota and subcontractor Kanto auto works and that only 10% still exist*
I know a guy that has 3 of them in this color I belive in CA! To me it looks like a baby 2000GT. The model is a 1:43 by Norev I got off eBay for $6.00 and free shipping. It is a very great model. My only complaint is that the mirrors do not securely fit into their holes so they are very easy to lose. I recommend this model to anyone that likes vintage Japanese cars and Toyotas. Sayōnara!
