As others here can testify, there are just so many options when it comes to 12-cylinders. From the moment Engine Week was announced, I was pretty much set on showing you guys my Enzo. That particular car means so much to me because it’s the first car I truly fell in love with, before the R35 GT-R came around and stole my heart. Let’s just say that some significant diecast events have occurred in the past few weeks, forcing me to make a last-minute substitution.
Meet Enzo’s sister, the Maserati MC12.
While not my favorite of the two, this is definitely the less polarizing of the siblings. You know what - you could even say that the MC12 is universally adored, whereas the Enzo is hate-it-or-love-it. I couldn’t wait to show off my new toy, so that’s why you guys get the Masy for today. Besides, this AUTOart MC12 is a far superior model to the seriously-flawed HWE Enzo.
As many #Team118 members already know, Modelissimo (and CK) was selling these at half price a couple weeks ago. I guess AA must have had large quantities of these MC12's that they couldn’t get rid of, so they sent them to the online retailers for cheap. This was a model I’ve always wanted, but the $250 price tag held me off for a long time. For half that, it’s a no-brainer. I’ve even lost an auction on one for $200 before. Huge thanks to the fool who outbid me.
This model is not as intricate as some of AUTOart’s best, but it’s beyond satisfactory for most collectors. Honestly, that is probably attributed to the 1:1 more than anything, because it doesn’t have the complexity of, say, a Zonda. As with many of their hypercars, you get working suspension on all four corners. And you can add to that the laundry list of standard AA features that you all should have recited by now.
