Where’re the gleaming cam covers? What about the polished intake manifolds? Nope. None of that in this 1:18 Jaguar XJ-S from AUTOart. Isn’t that a terrifying sight? A myriad of vacuum lines and wiring with a V12 somewhere underneath all that. A mechanic’s nightmare had it been a real 1:1 – thank goodness I don’t have to live with that.
This XJ-S is the first 1:18 AUTOart model, after the “encouragements” from LaLD, to enter my collection. It was a little worse for wear, the antenna is bent and one of the front fog lights was a superglue repair jobs. Heck, there wasn’t even a base for it – the big cat was out on the loose. The seller wanted to let it go for less than $40 and that sounded right for my first foray into this scale.
Acquiring it allowed me to see the allure of models of this scale which I detailed in this post. Engine Week has allowed me to revisit this model and give it the reshoot it deserves. How ‘bout sharing your favourite Lucas Electronics joke in the comments. Ta!
