In the year 2000, Tomica celebrated their 30th anniversary by releasing a slew of commemorative merchandise, and this Hakosuka GT-R is one of the many "limited edition" pieces.

Like the '67 Camaro is to Hot Wheels, there are numerous variations of the 2000GT-R Racing, different ones to express different trim levels are also created. With the oil-cooler mounted on the front, this setup harkens back to the Hakosuka GT-R race cars that dominated on the old Fuji Speedway during its prime.

Tomica didn't make many changes to this old tooling, the emblems and badges are raised in the molding instead of being printed on; much like the toy cars of that time. Getting increasingly scarce are the opening doors, nowadays Tomica is cutting down on these extra features that make their products such a favorite among children and collectors.

The newer releases from Tomica aren't manufactured with the same consistency they're used to, pieces which are made using the old recipe will be cherished and certainly hold on their value better than their newer counterparts.

While that era has already passed, this Hakosuka and many other miniature cars will serve as reminders of the good old times.
