There’s very few diecast cars that would make me click “buy it now” without giving a second thought. The 4wd Toyota Tercel Wagon is one of them.
I discovered this gem (bundled with two Mercedes cars) on the bay of e with a very reasonable buy it now price. Budget be damned, I had to snag it. My father was a Toyota salesman for a majority of my childhood (except a brief stint selling Subarus). So, our driveway was always filled with Toyotas. My mom had a Tercel exactly like this one except it was tan with dog poop brown interior. The car was glorious. The harsh New Hampshire winters could not stop it’s reliable 4wd system. It was simply a tank.
The auction included these two Mercedes’. Both terrific in their own right. But, my main target was the Tercel.
It all depends on who you talk to, but, yesterday was the first day of spring here in Vermont. So, it also was the first day to go for a quick drive and look for yard sales (and stop at the cat shelters to hang out with the fuzzies). I came up mostly empty. But did encounter a yard sale with a whole table of carded HW/MBX and Majorettes. <3 The hotwheels and mbx cars were not incredibly appealing at 2 to 3 bucks a piece (mostly fantasy cars and emergency vehicles). But, the Majorette carded goodies seemed totally reasonable at $3 ea. He had about 30 of them and I really had to strain to not go overboard. I snagged a Toyota Pickup and Ford Escort Turbo. They were DLM’ed immediately.
Annnnnnnd the weather is beautiful out. I will be spending the day in the garage working on customs! Everyone have a great weekend!
