Just in time for French Friday! SN210's post a few weeks back pointed out an excellent sale going on at https://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com where many fine French NoRev automobiles are on extreme markdown (protip: the sale is still happening). With the holidays around the corner, I decided that one teensy weensy 1:18 scale present under the tree from “Santa” wouldnt hurt too bad.
My original intention was to just receive the box and wrap it up immediately, tuck it under the tree, and act all excited when I opened it up on Christmas morning. Don’t mock, you do it too, I’m just man enough to fess up here in the open. :P
But, Fedex had other plans... The box reached my door step and when I picked it up I heard the sound that makes every diecast collector weep a thousand tears. The gut-wrenching sound of many parts bouncing around inside. Welp, can’t wait till Christmas now! I opened it up and my poor little Renault had broken free from it’s base. All four wheels were off, antenna off, mirror off, and the front bumper was dangling.
I snapped some pics and sent them to the DMW.com customer support. They replied within hours, apologized and offered a partial refund because they were now sold out of this car. I gladly accepted the partial refund because... after all... it’s a French car, I’ll have to do some repairs on it no matter what right?
Thankfully, all the wheels fastened back onto their hubs without issue, I glued the other stray bits back on and really the main blemish on this car is a small crack on the driver side glass. It adds Character really!.
Despite this setback, I am INSANELY pleased with this car. This is my first NoRev 1:18 and the overall detail and quality is awesome. I am now a huge fan. My 1:18 scale collection is pretty small. So, I am really happy to have this on display with my other cars. Definitely going to purchase more NoRev 1:18 cars in the future :)
Also, 5 stars for Diecast Model Wholesalers. Great service and fast support. They took a sour situation and made it cool. I appreciate that. :)
