I have been waiting months to talk about this model for you guys, but boy has my schedule been hectic. In the mean time, I’ve collected about five or six more models as well, and they’ll all come in due time. First thing’s first though, let’s talk about this little Lexus.
The LC500 is one of my favorite cars currently on sale, and is one of my favorite Lexus’ ever made, a bold claim for what is one of my favorite brands. It’s a beautiful design with leagues of luxury and performance wrapped into one. It’s the modern day version of my favorite car of all time, the original Lexus SC from the 1990s.
When AutoArt announced they would be making a model of the LC, I was naturally excited, and knew that it had to be the car with which I would pop my AutoArt cherry. Back when I got my income tax return for the year, I knew it was time. Unfortunately the aforementioned Lotus Esprit Turbo got here first.
Nevertheless, the LC was 100% worth it. This car lives up to the AutoArt name, being that it is just that...auto art. It carries so much grace with its sensual curves and hyper futuristic accents, that it almost feels like an ornate piece of sculpture rather than a model of a car. Even though I was a bit disappointed to find that AutoArt had gone to plastic to create the body of the car, its made up by its sumptuous detailing and build quality.
I also think the decision to go for the white exterior and rose red interior was a great choice.
The finer details on this model are just so exquisite, everything from the brake rotors to the tri-beam headlights and the detailing of the spindle grille is represented in just excellent accuracy.
So yeah, while the price is a little on the higher side in my opinion, the LC definitely lives up to its hype, and makes as fine an addition to my collection as any other. Plus, now that I actually own a real Lexus, it only makes having smaller Lexus’ all the more sweeter.
