In 1966, Lamborghini made sports car history as they introduced a mid-engine prototype to the world via a display at the Geneva Auto Show. The prototype P400 soon entered production as the Miura, and the sports car world hasn’t been the same since. Pioneering the mid-engine design, the Miura set the stage for many of the supercars of today. Like may supercars throughout history, the Miura was sold in small numbers over a span of seven years. Only around 760 Miuras were built from 1966-1973, and they have become uber collectable. According to Hemmings, the average Miura selling price is about $500,000. Lucky for us, Matchbox has several mini versions that are a bit easier on our wallets.
Matchbox introduced their scaled version of the Miura in 1968 and have since introduced an even better looking (and more accurate) version - and included it in their Best Of line.

It’s cool to see opening doors on any model, but to see the inside door panel with detailing on it is detailing on whole ‘nother level - and this was in 1968. Should LaLD start a #bringbackthedoors movement? I say yes!
Then in 2010, Matchbox introduced a new Miura model, and it had several styling improvements — but the opening doors were gone.
The new model is more realistically shaped, has classic looking wheels with a great stance, and tampos that add front and rear detailing that was missing from the 1968 release - and it brings the whole model up to date.

Then last year, Matchbox introduced the Miura to their Best of line, and took the already great styling and added new mesh/multi spoke wheels with rubber tires. The new wheels matched with a stunning blue and gold paint job makes the Best of Miura, well, one of the best Matchbox Miuras out there.
