I know what you’re thinking. You’re saying, “But PC, today is Tuesday. You’re 2 days late.” While that is true, this post was supposed to go up yesterday, and I was so enamored of my title, I refuse to let it go. Starting //M week on the second day was intentional. You see, I figured with May being the 5th month, I would feature nothing but the 5 series. But I don’t have a first generation 5, which leaves me with only 6 generations, hence the “car short” in the title.
So we get started with the 2nd-gen 5-er, a.k.a. the E28. But this car is also the 1st. As in it is the first M5. Featuring the M1’s M88 (S38 in NA) straight 6 engine, the M5 was the fastest production sedan in the world at it’s introduction. The model comes from AUTOart and is finished in Dolphin Grey Metallic. Coming from the “good ol’ days” the model is of course made of metal and it can still hold its own against any of their newer releases. For you eagle eyed readers noticing the fit of the hood, that is purely the fault of the owner. Like the real M5, the AUTOart is rare nowadays, and thus commands a price far beyond what it’s worth, but for those of you that missed out, there is a sealed diecast from Norev.
