Hope everyone is having a great holiday season, and that you’ve all had reasons to celebrate this year!

My kids surprised me this morning with an amazing thrift-store find: a glass model car! They thought it was just a cute, weird thing that would make for a funny gift for their dad...only the joke was on them. It turns out that this is a vintage Hofbauer leaded crystal sculpture of a Mercedes W201, part of the now-defunct glass company’s line of glass cars from the 1980s. I remember seeing these advertised in the big car magazines back in the day, and while it’s not an especially valuable piece, it’s still quirky and cool, and I love that my offspring know me well enough to know that I’d dig it. Anybody else have one of these?
