Update (sort of): I just realized I posted my Micro Monday post on Sunday, which is when I uploaded the pics and saved the draft for later. I’m changing the post time so hopefully more people see it :)

Back to the original post!

For the inaugural edition of Micro Monday, I’d like to compare the two eras of Micro Machine vehicles. What we have here are ‘57 Chevy Bel Airs from both the early and the late eras.

The green one up top here, is an early car. The proportions on these tend to be a bit off, they’re definitely shorter than they should be proportionally. I find the details of Micro Machines are still really impressive. It’s amazing how much is on such a little toy.

This white one is a later era version. The proportions are definitely better, and the details are still great, but there is a problem.

That right there on the back end, that’s the problem. They changed the way the chassis attached to the body. That big giant tab on the back end, something that’s no big deal on a 3" car, is a much bigger wart on the back end of a 3/4" car.

Here they are side by side. I don’t know when the switch over was made, sometime in the mid-90's I believe. I like them both, but I prefer the early cars better. Nostalgia for my childhood might have something to do with that, if I’m honest.

Here is a size comparison. I’ll try to do this for these posts whenever I have versions in both sides.

I hope you all enjoy Micro Monday. I have enough of them do do this for years :)
