In honor of yesterday’s Daytona 500, here are a couple Micro Machines stock cars. I lost interest in NASCAR several years ago, but I can’t get enough of old stock cars.

What I’m finding interesting about this new series, is I’m learning new things about these little cars that I spent so many hours playing with as a kid (and you can tell from the play wear, that these have a LOT of miles on them!). For example, I always had it in my head that the white car was a Buick, but a close inspection by adult eyes, reveals a Pontiac grill.

Hey! What’s that on the back of the Thunderbird!?! A parachute!?! Well now, that’s not a stock car at all, at least not the circle track kind. That explains why the front wheels are so much smaller than the back.
