(Street) Racing is one of the things that I enjoy most about my virtual life. I have played countless games and have driven a very eclectic range of cars in different cities and tracks. One of these games was the amazing “Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition” from Rockstar.

Yes, I did try to recreate a scene from the trailer.

“Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition” came out in 2005 and featured different classes and types of cars and motorcycles. One of these classes was “SUV”. These suv’s are a rather unusual class for a racing game. They drive pretty bad and are pretty slow too. On the other hand, they do feature a lot of customization options.

But why would you want to bring these heavy, not-nimble-at-all machines to a street race? Well “not to race” is the answer. Because when you think about it, what is a street race without pumping beats at the start and finish line? Without this, it wouldn’t be like a typical Fast-and-furious-like street race you want it to be. That’s were the suv’s come in because they are able to have a ludicrous big and loud ICE. Besides this, suv’s do an amazing job in transporting fresh tires, meaning that everyone will want to be friends with the suv-driver. An other thing Vin Diesel has taught us, is that you can’t have a proper street race without some short-skirted girls dancing and cheering for the testosterone rich drivers. Again, suv’s have your back because they can and will carry a lot of these girls.

Still not convinced about the presence of suv’s in the underground racing scene? Then think about how the suv-driver will spend the rest of his night when he and his female passengers find out that these girls have no more place to sleep because police arrested all the racers that had promised these poor girls a warm bed...

In want of such a polyvalent suv now? Then here are two nice examples. The burgundy beast is a 2002 Cadillac Escalade. The green machine is a 1998 Dodge Ram. Both feature vinyls that would have fitted (and probably fitted) perfectly in a mid-2000's racing game like “Midnight Club 3".

Thanks to @Jedimario’s comment on an other article I recently made, I know these toys are called Phat Boyz. They are funny little things with very unique dimensions.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

P.S.: If you want to race, go to your local race track and have your vehicle safety inspected. Obey local traffic laws and always wear your seatbelt.
