Minichamps 1/43 Audi RS6 (C5)

A few weeks ago, Audi officially announced that the RS6 would return to the US in the long awaited Avant guise for the 2020 model year.

I’ve been a big fan of the RS6 for well over a decade and have been waiting for this day ever since the C5 RS6 sedan was in our dealerships for the 2003 model year.

Unfortunately, since I can’t afford a six-figure wagon, I had to settle for the next best thing. I hopped onto eBay to see what I could find in terms of a Minichamps RS6, whether C5, C6, or C7. Although they were all a bit pricey, I found a lovely little 1/43 C5 RS6 in Ebony Black Pearl (Ebonyschwarz Perleffekt) that was listed as located in Croatia. An offer later and I bought it for only $30 with shipping.

Exactly two weeks later, it arrived at my house. I was excited to see it yesterday and immediately opened it. The same joy that 9 year old me felt in the Avant story returned once again. I haven’t felt this happy about a model in ages. I was hit with a beautiful dose of nostalgia that left me feeling happy all night.

And before anyone asks, the 5-speed Tiptronic has yet to grenade itself on my desk.

It looks Daytona Gray, but the box and Internet tell me it’s Ebony Black Pearl.

If you have a car you desire as much as I do the RS6, I would recommend you find a model of it. It’s not the real thing, but it does give you a certain sense of satisfaction while you save up for the real thing.

Would I recommend this model? As if this post didn’t tell you that already.
