In the not too distant past, I decided that it would be in my best interest to diversify my collection of 1/43 models. The day I ordered my Norev 1/18 M850i, I happened to win an auction I forgot I ever threw in a bid for.
It was a model I’d coveted for years, but was never able to find one at a relatively reasonable price in the right color. I won a Minichamps 1/43 2011 VW Jetta dealer edition for about $25 shipped, which was far lower than anyone else was asking for it. To my surprise, I fell in love with the car. I think it might be the most wholesome 1/43 I’ve bought to date. It’s just a damn shame Minichamps never made other newer 1/43 VWs.
This particular model is a German dealer edition painted in Candy White over Latte with the “Porto” wheels.
The Jetta’s remarkably conservative styling is emulated perfectly right down to the Jetta badge and the small antenna nub on the roof.
I will note I removed the plates simply because they began to peel off due to age. That and I may have ripped one in the process of trying to reattach them, but you can’t really tell the plate holder was meant to have one considering it’s smooth black plastic with no markings or indentations.
Regardless, it looks like it would feel right at home in front of your local chapter of Kappa Delta.
The details throughout the car make it stand out above the rest for making it feel like I took a Jetta out of a showroom and shrunk it down to 1/43 scale.
This is truly a gem for everyone who likes normal cars.
Would I recommend it? If you can find it for well under $400, sure. I’m in love with mine, so I may be biased, but it’s definitely worth a look if you like VWs or scale models of normal cars.
