I feel GM needs some love today, especially since I fly their flag! Here are a couple of large sixties convertibles from Johnny Lightning representing the (then) best selling full size model line in the USA, from an era when full size cars dominated the market here in the States.

- 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS350 Convertible

- Casting #923

First, a slick looking 1969 Impala Super Sport with the small block 350 ci V8, which was a new engine that year, sporting 255 or 300 hp. Looking subtle yet menacing in black, it also has the rallye wheel option and redline tires.

- 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS409 Convertible

- Casting #943, Chevy Thunder Series #01

In contrast, this middle decade convertible sports an SS badge, but it's a sleeper with the wire wheels and bronze paint. However, do not be fooled, this model carries the top line 409 ci which only came on early '65's, with a 4bbl carb and either 340 or 400 hp.

Also visible on this car is the iconic Impala logo speaker in the top/center of the backseat. My dad tells me stories about just such a speaker on my grandfather's '64, which I'm going to restore soon ;-)

Happy Muscle Monday Funday, and continuing the tradition:
