Well that came fast. As some of you might have seen, I bought this on Wednesday and it’s already here. The “it” in question is a 1967 Toyota 2000GT that won the 24 Hours of Fuji.

I’d posted a Deal of the Day way back, but didn’t get it at that time (although I did tempt R32 into getting one). I’d considered it a few times, but decided to get other things. Recently, I was scrolling through Model Citizen Diecast’s website when I saw the blue SCCA racer and it got me thinking. One thing led to another, and I had Patrick special order this for me.

This car is the only 2000GT to win anything and that’s why I wanted this livery. There is a blue one with the same stripe design, but it got 12th place (I think). There’s also the SCCA racers that got 3rd and 4th overall, which is respectable, but those have headlight covers. So the 24 Hours of Fuji Winner it was. Patrick sourced it for me and made my wallet $84 lighter. To be honest, that’s pretty cheap for an AA and with the shipping costing $18, I’m not sure how he made money. But hey, I ain’t complainin’.

Overall, it’s perfect. There’s one teeny tiny paint bubble on the passenger side door (left-hand door) and the boot cover doesn’t stay open on its own, but that’s typical AA.

I have no regrets whatsoever. I just traded off my only other high quality Japanese car and my only other one with...

Pop-up headlights!

They make my heart very happy. It just looks so adorable!

The engine is a work of art, both in model and in real life.

The interior is a bit hard to photograph, so you’ll have to take my word for it that it’s typical AA perfection.

Not much to see around back, but it is a stripped out racecar after all...

And of course, the little storage doors.

Big thanks to Patrick for dealing with me (as I was being a pain in butt [as usual])! Have a great night/morning/afternoon! To make your sleep/day/life more cheerful, have some more pop-up headlight goodness.
