Remember when we talked about pinnacle pieces in our collections? Here’s mine: the Mercedes-Benz Vision GT Concept Car.

I scooped this one up from American Excellence over the summer when they were having an 18% off all 1/18's. Full price is a tough pill to swallow for me for a sealed, resin model, but this sale brought it within my budget’s reach.

LaLD Platinum member 13 had shown this car off before, so I knew it existed and I knew I wanted it, but never thought I would get a good enough deal to get one on my shelf. Here it is though, it all its liquid silver glory.

I had the honor of seeing this car in person (so did the Torchbug!) at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concourse, and the car absolutely blew me away. It didn’t look real, almost as if it were a hologram projected on the lawn. If you ask me, this car tops all of the other Gran Turismo Vision concept cars we’ve seen in the recent years, including those from Bugatti and Nissan’s GTR.

It is a sealed resin car, but as with any concept car, there’s always a shroud of mystery as to what’s under the hood and how the doors open. I believe this one has a set of gullwings, so that’s definitely a shame the model does not.

This model though is nothing short of stunning. The brilliant silver paint is flawless and I don’t know how they did it, but Model 777 made those headlights glow like the Night King’s eyes. The tires are amazing, but as with most resin models, they do not steer.

While I never recommend paying full price for any model, this one is definitely worth picking up. Its for sale at 20% off now on American Excellence, way cheaper than what you’ll find second-hand on eBay. I don’t know much about Model 777, and cant’ even find a website for them, but damn, this is a nice one! Sorry AMG, but if I hit Powerball I’m going to knock on your door to commission me one of these, not the Project 1!
