Hello there everyone! Today I will teach you how to powder coat. Here is a quick summary of how it works:

There is a gun that has an air hose connected to it. It has a thing on the end that electrifies the powder. Since the powder is positive it is attracted to the metal because it is negative. When you are done coating it you bake the paint in an oven for about 20 min. at 400 degrees. When you take it out you have paint that looks great and is almost invincible!

To start out you will need the items above as well as a paint booth, air hose, and an oven that is not the one you cook in.

The next step is take the car or whatever you are painting and with a wire hang it up in the paint booth.

Next step is take your paint and put it into a plastic canister like this. Note: Eastwood’s newer paints come in the plastic containers already so if you have newer stuff you can skip this step.

Step three: Hook up your gun and start spraying!

The next step is to put your car into the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Since I am using translucent paint on this supra it will gloss over after a few minutes in the oven.

Next, use pliers to take the car out of the oven. Do NOT touch it until it has about 6 minutes to cool off. This paint is very forgiving as the coats are usually very even. Since I was using translucent paint I detailed the car before I painted it so the details are now permanent. If I would have polished it this car would have came out like my purple mustang. I hope you liked this how-to!
