This year marks the 30th anniversary of the late great Ayrton Senna’s first Formula One world title. And what better way to mark that achievement than by me showing this 1:43 scale McLaren MP4/4 by unknown maker from the ‘F1 Car Collection’ partworks magazine.

Clearly for the low price that these magazines usually go on sale for, that they’re not built to Minichamps or Spark standards. But for the price (this McLaren was the first issue, so obviously it was cheaper than what would be coming in the next few weeks; price was Malaysian Ringgit RM12.90).

It was definitely a steal at that price! And to think I never thought I’d have seen this partworks magazine reach Malaysian shores....

Decent model. Comes with the period-correct sponsors decals (obviously minus the tobacco logos) and body is accurately replicated. And that base..... Kerbs and track are awesome!

To think that this McLaren car absolutely owned the entire grid back in ‘88. The driver pair of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost won 15 out of the 16 Grands Prix between them. They only missed out on the Italian GP in Monza due to circumstances, but 15 out of 16 ain’t shabby...

I shall hereby dump more photos I took of the car below.... ENJOY!
