I’m glad to see that so many others have joined the pro-996 side in the past couple of days. So proud of you guys. Together, we have the power to change automotive history. Let’s keep the momentum going.
Admittedly, this is the last 996 I have in the eighteenth scale, so someone else is gonna have to pick up the slack for me after today. Nonetheless, before I jump to some of the more modern 911's for the rest of the week, I present to you this blood red GT3.
This GT3 is based off the earlier of the two iterations of the 996 generation, AKA the Mk.I. You can tell by the headlights, which are rounder and more closely resemble the “runny egg” or “fried egg” nickname than the ones on the Turbo or GT2 I’ve showed previously. The car as a whole has a rounder profile, and with fewer vents, making it look less aggressive than its high performance brothers. The shape of that wing, though, is a thing of beauty, and is carried over into the 997.1 GT3 - another favorite of mine.
AUTOart also produced the Mk.II in GT3 and GT3RS trim, but those are harder to find and significantly more expensive, which is why I don’t have them.....yet. Donations are welcome.
