Apologies for the lack in frequency of my recent posts. Things have been extremely busy outside of my Tomica life. That said, I’ve still been reading and occasionally commenting all this time. :)
I’ve posted the Honda Civic Country Wagon in both courier delivery and blood transport livery before. Tomica seems to portray this car as a very popular commercial/delivery vehicle. Perhaps this is true in real life as well (can anyone confirm?).
Not surprisingly, here’s another Tomica Honda Civic Country Wagon, this time as an Aeon delivery vehicle. Aeon is a Japanese supermarket + departure store chain with locations throughout southeast Asia.
Given the box art, this is probably an Aeon-only special. Again, can anyone confirm?
Upon closer inspection, there are 2 things wrong with the cover of the box.
1) This car is clearly not 1/78.
2) The Japanese script on the bottom indicates that the rear hatch opens.
But once you have the delivery truck counterpart, you’ll notice that these are printing errors and it’s clear how this happened.
Flip the car over, and you’ll see that it’s 1/58. Despite being a re-issue, this is made in Japan because the casting never went abroad during the transition years.
Not sure if a delivery car with the same livery actually existed (probably not, because the Aeon name/graphics-not the parent company-is fairly new), but all around, this is a nice piece given that the mould hasn’t been watered down since its heyday.
Only gripe I have is that the bumpers and grille have been given the blacked-out treatment, but maybe it’s meant to portray a cheaper, commercial trim level of the car.
This makes 3 specimens of this in my collection, but sadly I still don’t have the woody wagon. :(
