Tomica time again, and another installment in the models that I bought about 20 years ago. This was a new release when I purchased it. Today we have the #24 Toyota RAV4, from the first generation, which to me seems like it would be better off road than the beige heavy models that came after. This one is even a 2 door - too bad it isn’t the convertible. This was among the earlier models to be solely made in China, I think. This model entered the range exactly 20 years ago, in May 1995, and appears to have been in production until 2001. It is typical of the softer casting detail and proportion typical of that era, still seen today:

It’s still a very well done model, everything looks pretty accurate. Tampos are good quality. Like the others I bought at the time, it has some silver superdetailing a bored me applied when new:

Funny undersized steering wheel:

The doors seem huge, it’s about to take flight. It’s 1:57 scale, a fairly chunky casting:

Some undercarriage detail, but relatively minimal:

The box survived pretty well:

Both headlights are the same silver color, the dark one is just from glare/shadow. I am not sure why I chose this back in the day, as I have never gravitated towards soft-roaders. Must have been because of the “new” factor. It’s definitely a piece of the 90s.
