I’ve been meaning to shoot this amazing model for sometime now, my wife gave it to me as a gift for my birthday along with that amazing AutoArt Toyota 2000GT SCCA racecar that I featured about a month ago (do want that new RLC HW version!!!). This model is a HotWheels Elite series and the detail is quite amazing, probably the most detailed model in my collection rivaling both AutoArt models that join it. Let me also mention the most frustrating to unpackage as well, they really should have just used a foam clamshell instead of the dozen twist ties and half dozen screw posts, ugh!
This particular model represents the #55 512S from the 1970 1000km of Nurburgring which took a respectable 3rd place with John Surtees behind the wheel. As I said before this model is chalked up with detail and it doesn’t have one bad looking angle to it, I literally could shoot this car all day and it shows as I’ve posted more pictures in this post then any other I’ve done to date. Everywhere you look there is something new to discover from the laser etched metal latch on the boot to the rivets in the cockpit. The fully removable front and rear body work reveals delightful engine and trunk detail. From the rows of carbuerators and the wonderful headers to the intricate fluid lines and dash detail. The striking rosso corsa paint against those iconic golden five spoke knock offs is just brilliant.
