After ages. Hope everyone is doing quite well!
The star of today’s showcase has been in my bucket list for ages. I always wanted a flatbed / rollback in my collection that could genuinely take a 1:64 around. The Tomica Isuzu Elf was good but way too small, I did not feel like getting the RMZ City Scania as well (that is a really good car carrier for the price), and the elusive TLV Atlas flatbed was completely off topic. Then I happened to see the GL dedicated flatbeds (from the DuraStar range), and was considering that when I saw this.
The GL WorkStar range (branded SD trucks) features several iterations of the DuraStar truck including a tanker, dumper and the platform stake. The stake in the stake truck was removable, and doing so it reveals a perfect flatbed!
This was a no-brainer, then. The only hiccup, as usual, was the price. Eventually though, the heart won the battle. Almost a month later, this lands at our home.
It also has some interesting transport for the day.
More on that special transport later. As for the truck, it really feels big and brutal, macho; there is no escaping of that. Kudos to GL for doing a good job in that aspect, replicating this massive truck with a very good level of authenticity. However it is not all praise that comes GL’s way as usual. QC needs a lot of improvement yet (a slightly squashed front bumper, messed up front indicator and headlight tampo and worst of all, a horribly misaligned rear wheel at the right side).
After all it is no rollback as well, so getting cars in and out of the truck requires a hypothetical forklift. Still though, it fits the job!
Thanks for stopping by! Have an awesome weekend!
