If you think I’m copying Androoo, I totally am.
These are my top ten favorite additions to my collection last year. They aren’t necessarily new models, but they were new to me!
Honorable mention: Whitebox Aston Martin DB4
This was a Christmas gift from my in-laws, but I’ve yet to open it! Can’t really include it in my list without proper pictures, can I?
#10 Welly Porsche 997 GT3
My Secret Super gift from AlienProbe! This one gave a serious bump to the severe lack of Porsche in my collection.
#9 AutoArt Bugatti Chiron
Not the new one, the old one! This was my birthday gift to myself early last year. Already ordered my birthday gift for this year... stay tuned!
#8 - Exoto Porsche 959
I haven’t edited these pics yet or even started a write-up, but I’m excited to have this one. I scooped it up a few weeks ago before the holidays. I’m sure it’s not up to the same standard as today’s AutoArt, but I couldn’t say no to the price! I could have bought this one three times over and still had some change in my pocket.
#7 - AutoArt Corvette Stingray Prototype
One of the cars I picked to showcase during last year’s LaLD Car Week. It’s an older AutoArt, but it’s still amazing.
#6 - AutoArt Lotus Esprit Turbo
I had this one on my want list for the longest time and remember finally finding a decent enough deal on one of these. It still had the “please tear it for opening” stickers on it too!
#5 - Ricko Ford RS200
Enough said, right? The only reason this isn’t higher is because it was very much a second hand model when I got it.
#4 Guiloy Mercedes Benz C111
Love this one so much. Another model I showed off during Car Week. The orangey gold paint is incredible, plus Gullwing doors! And who doesn’t love tartan interiors?
#3 - UT Models BMW Z3 M Coupe
Still can’t get over how I scored this one. It was mixed in with a lot of diecasts on ETBH. I won their auction for under $40, where most eBay auctions run closer to $100.
#2 - Kyosho BMW E60 M5
Oh sorry, just drooled a bit. So much detail! Carpeting, all four doors open, and of course THAT BLUE. Boxless models on eBay tend to be more in my price range, I saved myself $100.
#1 - Ricko Vector W8
I fell in love hard for this car when I saw one in person at an auction in Monterey a few summers ago. Naturally this one jumped to the top of the want list when I found out a 1:18 existed. These are few and far between, and it took forever to find one. This one triggered my eBay alert, had a Buy It Now option, and I pulled the trigger!
Here’s to 2017! Interesting to see how my photography skills progressed through the year too. 2017 should be even better. I was playing with my new “nifty-fifty” 50mm lens and tripod last night.
