Since I got the ‘79 Ford F-150 from the Trucks Series recently, I thought I’d show the most recent release with an early release from way back in 2002.
Personally, I think that this new release is equally as nice as the Datsun famed for being scalped. I love the pinstripes and the coppery hue of the paint.
The only thing I dislike about this casting is the use of the plastic bed cover piece as the tailgate. The mismatched plastic really doesn’t seem like a tailgate, as all trucks used body-colored tailgates, or no tailgates at all.
The 1979 Ford F-150 was the last year for the 6th generation design, which was first produced in 1973.
This generation actually served as the debut of the F-150 heavy half-ton, which supplanted the existing F-100 half-ton, F-250 3/4-ton, and F-350 one-ton pickups.
The F-100 would be discontinued in favor of the F-150 after the 1983 model year.
