Bburago’s 1/18 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

Jeff Simmons mentioned to me on Instagram that he had just purchased on of these, in black, and is awaiting shipment of said model. I thought this would be a good time for me to finally show this car here on LaLD.

I purchased this three years ago, at Costco no less, at the absolute steal price of $13. I’m sure many of you have done the same. Even though it’s really a Bburago, it’s repackaged as a Maisto for the U.S. market. I had a choice of a few rather appealing models, such as the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and the Bentley Continental Supersports, but ultimately I chose this one. It’s one of my favorite cars ever, and I’ve even seen one roaming the streets.

This, IMO, is one of Bburago’s finest 1/18's. When you look at it, there’s nothing that screams cheap. There’s none of Maisto/Bburago’s signature suspension “droop” on this model. Their wheels and wheel choice can be questionable at times (AMG GT, for example), but not on this one. Pretty much the only way you can tell it’s a budget model is the chrome trim on the front bumper connected with the foglights.
