Fresh into the year 2015, I did a few custom jobs. Among those, was a Hot Wheels Mustang SVO from the Cool Classics series.

It was an ongoing process but produced desirable results.

Now the boosted stallion is back, and faces a newcomer from the realm of Auto World. Let’s see how they stack up.

It’s immediately apparent that I’m just not quite capable of replicating the tampo detail of the Auto World car. Another thing easily seen is how much larger the Hot Wheels casting is by comparison.

The rear lenses used to be blank on the Cool Classics SVO, and while they aren’t far off from the Auto World ‘Stang, I once again can’t compete with their tampos. Love the Mustang SVO and Ford logos on the AW too.

One place where the HW makes up some ground is the choice of wheels. The Cool Classics wheel looks decently at home compared to the overly large chrome five spokers of the AW, which look like scale 18-19” wheels. Definitely not my taste. Paint quality, however, is very good on both cars.
