It’s a rainy Saturday here, a good time to snap a few pics. Today we examine another little Tomica / Pocket Cars playset by Tomy. This is one of a series of sets issued around 1981, during the heyday of Pocket Cars in NA. This is the “Pocket Car Pit Stop”:

Here’s a shot to try to duplicate the box illustration. My Stratos is a little different, and I don’t have the car in the middle, so I substituted:

This is another set with fun action. There’s a garage bay, a gas pump (the hose on mine seems different from the one on the box) and a launcher at front. Press the button on top of the gauge device, it counts down with each press, and then launches the car via a hinged (to allow a car to drive in) lever. Here are some other angles, posed with some of my other Tomica racing cars:

The rear isn’t as detailed:

The launching action is rubber band powered:

I am glad to have this, as it is a piece of history, and I have a vague memory of these sets from when I was a little kid. If one is patient, these can still be quite cheap - I think I only paid around twice the original price for mine, based on the price tag on the box. These little sets are an interesting and affordable addition to a good Tomica collection.
