The Citroën Xsara WRC is one of the most successful cars to compete and dominate the WRC, winning 32 races between 2001 and 2006. 28 of those victories for the Xsara WRC came from driver Sebastian Loeb and navigator Daniel Elena who won 3 straight championships with the car in 2004, 2005 and 2006 with Citroën…
Ryan and I had a really nice brunch today in Maryland. He stopped by on his way to his vacation. We compared our 1:1 VWs and Ryan even took my GTI for a little spin. Ryan also came with some surprises for me! I especially love the Tomica Limited Vintage 911 and the ZIL Limousine, but they’re all fantastic!
As you likely recall, when Matra first approached PSA after its takeover at Simca/Chrysler they brought with them the “Dessin Orange”, an orange sketch of an MPV that they foresaw as the future of family transport. The subsequently cold response from PSA meant that the design went to Renault where it became the first…
It had a little cameo last week, this Citroën DS23. Last week’s was the DS19, this one has the bigger engine and the bigger headlights. As in 1967, with the 2nd nose redesign, it’s light clusters grew significantly.
I just returned from my old homestead in Connecticut a couple days ago and while there I finally got the Citroën I imported last September legally registered here in the U.S. of A. A few of you may have seen my post on Oppo about the adventure of buying and importing it.
As the weather in Italy was sooooo terrible this week we decided to return early and enjoy the weather at home a bit as the weather here is amazing. This weekend we’ll hit 25 degrees and that is, for the time of the year, pretty good. No time for a shoot due to the transit though so enjoy a regular visitor at LaLD’s,…
As it’s King’s Day over here and I have other stuff to do (concerns drinking beer and such) just a short orange (the color of our royals) post from me to remember Philipilihp what he’s been missing last few years. And to show that next to the Charleston I have built a 2CV Spot, my favorite, in LEGO as well.
I always loved the CX. The most glorious saloon of my youth. And in my youth there still was this other big “thing” in the east, that great divider of east and west: the iron curtain.
I have no idea. I know it’s a car from Disney’s/Pixar’s Cars series but I can’t remember seeing them in the movie.
Okay, “Again?” I hear you think. Yes. Again. And the final one for me. Although I’m triggered to do a Fourgonnette as well. But as I’m enjoying some skiing as we speak I only have time to share a few shots of last weekend when I finished it anyway.
Darned. I hoped I’d be able to show it in it’s full finished glory. But I still need more appropriate bricks...
In my youth there was only one capo di tutti anatre, one king of 2CVs, the Charleston. Stylish and you actually spotted a lot in ‘80's Holland. So of course I have a few of those.
The French have a knack for making charming cars. Even in this age of homogeneity and relative blandness, the French are able to carve out characterful little machines that may not be fast or particularly nimble, but are cute and whimsical: the Citroen C4 Cactus; the Renault Twizy; the Citroen E-Mehari. Yet this has…
As a tradition I’m sharing a contender of the greatest rally raid in the world during the event itself: Paris-Dakar! Last year it was the LWB 205 T16 Grand Raid, this year it’s the Citroën ZX Rallye Raid. Which in fact was the successor of the 205T16 Grand Raid’s successor, the 405T16.
This is another piece that came over from Veghel, The Netherlands. My good friend sounds like he’s saying Tommy Kah when he says Tomica, thus the headline. I may be wrong, but I’ve been pronouncing it toe-me-ka...which is it?
Anyway, French Friday:
Christmas was early this year! I just received a package from Santa, all the way from
Lapland California. The contents were way beyond I could comprehend so it will take me a while to cover it all. One thing in there instantly made my heartbeat rise over 100bpm: Citroën’s BX 4TC.
Les 2CV de Cochonou. A manufacturer of Sausages. That’s what Cochonou was. And they made a few 2CVs for publicity, a few ended up being used at the Tour de France.
So finally I got my hands on the Citroën DS3! This Abu Dhabi themed WRC car (along with it’s Red Bull liveried cousin) has been in my sights for quite sometime, but $10 seemed to be way too high for a 1/64 car.
