Target Throwback Datsun 240Z

The 2019 Throwback cars are hitting the pegs at your local Target stores. This minty green Z was the only car that I was after. With a set of period correct wheels and ultra-hot graphics, this one is a must for you JDM fans.

You should know that this is not a cast of any old Datsun Z, however. This is Sung Kang’s well known resto-modded FuguZ, which was built in 2015, that took home the Best in Show award at SEMA that year. It’s kind of funny that Hot Wheels and Target picked this car for their retro set. So what we have here is a Hot Wheels car of a resto-mod of a ‘73 Datsun built in 2015, given the retro treatment. I know, but it works!

Trust me when I say this is the only car from the set that you’ll need. Other cars include yet another Bone Shaker, Morris Mini, and ‘65 Mustang, an awkward Cadillac Elmiraj with these vintage button wheels, and a confused E36 M3 that isn’t sure what era it belongs in. The Honda City Turbo and Chevy Monte Carlo in the set are solid efforts, but everything about this FuguZ is perfect.
