Teutonic Tuesday Bonus Round: Living the Diecast Life at the Rolex Reunion! (Also Philipilhip & Tatorsaurus bait)

Bonus!! BMW was featured at the Historics Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion powered by Burger King Wall Street at Laguna Seca last weekend, so though I haven’t been in many years I had to go because I do love these cars. It helps to see so many out in the wild, it’s motivational for the ones I currently have. Of course, I went prepared to represent the LALDLyfe... enjoy!

There were, of course, plenty of miniature wallet-emptiers on offer, most at obscene event markups. This is only a small portion. The diecast truck was pretty cool, both sides were filled, plus standalone shelves on both sides, filled with HW, MBX, M2s, Autoworlds, and more.

We scored our pair of M2s here, loads of great stuff! Good thing I only took a $20, the only money I spent beyond the ticket and gas!

The coolest thing was, when I was taking shots with the little cars not only did my 4 year old daughter love it, but passers-by loved it! I got loads of compliments from people who thought it was super cool to pair the toy cars with real ones. You’ve already seen the Alfa pics, that led to a 15 minute conversation with a guy who had a 2002 and 240Z, and lusts after the GTV like I do. A professional photographer saw me taking the picture with the Group 5 320i and insisted on shooting me while I shot it. So many others commented positively, it was really cool. We’re not alone!

Also, here’s the promised Philipilihp and Tatorsaurus bait. I think Tatorsaurus was there on Sunday, I want to see that Koons Art Car of yours with the real one!

Next time I make it I’ll have to plan better and bring a case of cars that are likely to be there. I have lots of in-focus shots of the real cars too, if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking!
