About a decade ago, Matchbox's premium line was simply dubbed Superfast. Us collectors refer to it as "New Superfast" to avoid confusion with the original Superfast cars from decades past. On this Teutonic Tuesday, I figure I'll share with you guys one of the few multipacks born from this series- Autobahn.
This was a 5 car set released around 2005 that focused on high-speed German cars that would have been right at home at...wait, can you guess where? If you didn't guess "Autobahn", you may want to see a doctor. Despite the somewhat corny name, the cars offered in this set were decent and all feature paint and tampoes exclusive to the set.
The cardboard boxes were a staple of the New Superfast line and came with each car released in the series. Another unfortunate staple of this series was stupendously bad wheel designs. The style shown here may look off, but trust me, it was about the best this line saw. Other than the wheels, though, all 5 of these (and New Superfast in general) are pretty good. I'll just let the pictures do the talking from here on out. Happy new year!
