Teutonic Tuesday: Weiß bleibt schwierig

Man I love the E30. If there’s one thing I regret it’s not getting an M3 E30 when they hadn’t taken off yet. Price-wise. And an amazing 325i is getting harder to get as we speak as well as most of these ended up being used for tracking the Ring over here. So when I learned about Tomica Limited Vintage having a 4-door E30 325i I had to get it. In white.

And again a car I don’t have to share it’s history about with you all. As it is known all to well... What always bugs me though is shooting cars in white. Grey, blue and even white appear to be purplish, using a white background will have the car ‘disappear’. You can fiddle and edit what you want, it never ends up the way one had it in mind. At least, not with me.

Maybe I’d better get some other colors for those backgrounds. Or maybe I just have to add tools.

Maybe add some ‘sepia’.

Well... It’s a start.

The TLV is awesome in 1/64. It’s nicely detailed. I recognize the seats/upholstery of an ‘80’s BMW, although it’s just plastic.

And look at that ‘325i’-decal nicely on it’s trunk. Right position, right size, right font. Twin-tip exhaust. ‘Bottlecap’ E30 style 14” wheels (partnr 36111125688, still obtainable from your local BMW dealer). And luckily TLV didn’t mount those awful US-bumpers. And correct side-markers/blinkers on it’s fenders.

Even the roundels are okay in size and finish. Just that plain white, actually US-style license plate holder seems a bit odd to me. But maybe that’s just Japanese.

Speaking of Japan: That’s where I got it from obviously. Or is Japan Booster situated somewhere else? That 911 already came by in my early days (haha) on LaLD, I’m sure that S800 will join a ‘Land of the Rising Sun’-day in the future. But first I have to find more/better ways to shoot my 1/64s...

Because I have an awful lot of Teutonic 1/64 Kyoshos waiting to be shown over here as well. I’m planning to have the Diorama-guy do a 1/64-track diorama as well as we speak, just not sure what direction to go. I’d like to create some sort of curve instead of a straight for this one.
