Got a little package from Frosted yesterday. But oh no! The card is rather creased! Whatever shall we do?
This package was half surprise and half expected. The surprise part was the HW Stingray.
I've featured a different version of this casting before. This version is still kind of 90's-tastic, but definitely an improvement. It has a plastic body, but that appears to have resulted in a lot cleaner casting, particularly on the back end and some added detail (door lines). It now has "glass" in the side windows, but lost the interior along the way. The biggest difference is obviously the rear window, which was completely retooled to match the later C3 Vettes.
The other half of the package was a car that Frosted had featured a while ago and I had expressed an interest in it, since the Grand Sport is one of my most favorite cars.
This is a Micro Machines Corvette Grand Sport. It's obviously larger than your standard Micro Machines, but apparently they made some (slightly) larger and more detailed models. Alfalfa Romeo showed us a different 'Vette the other day.
It's very nicely detailed, particularly for the size, and the hood opens:
My potato has some difficulties at this scale.
I had in my mind that this is supposed to be 1:87, and it poses nicely with my 1:87 Texaco truck.
So there you have it. Thanks, Frosted!
