Thursday on the Thames Obsure Rally Edition - Lotus Exige R-GT

The FIA’s R-GT class (Rallying for GT cars) was introduced in 2011 to lure the likes of Lotus, Nissan, Renault and Alfa Romeo (all of which had GT cars in the market) into theGT class on rounds of the World Rally Championship.

Lotus’s entry to this class, the Exige R-GT was powered by a Toyota engine and 300 cars were built to satisfy homologation rules.

However, the Exige R-GT competed in just 1 race in the WRC calendar but retired midway due to electrical issues. The R-GT was never raced again.
