Big things with little cars

Toyota Truck Thursday: Majorette Hilux

I need not introduce the Hilux to anyone here, I guess. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of miniature models of the successive generations of the pickup, let alone being affordable. Thankfully, Majorette decided to add a pre-facelift eighth gen Hilux to their standard lineup again (they also did a version of the seventh gen Hilux ), and they did a very good job at that.

The Majorette Hilux is offered in different versions, including a canopied version and a Thai police edition. This was the only one I had access to, and boy it is very well executed indeed.

The Majorette ‘lux almost nails the proportions. I would have preferred a little more ride height as this one is (quite possibly) depicting the 4WD version of the REVO. That said, this stance is quite okay and works well.

Front details are mostly tampo - based, and there are separate headlights. Kudos to Majorette for doing a brilliant job with both.

The sides are complete with details as well. I hope Majorette will be able to add a chunky wheel for its 4x4 models, similar to those on Matchbox, so that the appearance is comprehensive. Not to say that the current wheels are bad, just that it could be even better.

Rear gets full tampo treatment as well, and a rear pintle hook that actually locks up!

Majorette has been doing some excellent castings lately, and the Hilux is a nice example of what they can do.
