Big things with little cars

Tuner Thursday

There’s a bit of a holdup regarding my other, massive 1/18 purchase (thanks to my local post office) so I’ll go ahead and peep this one right now. Some of you have already seen it on my Instagram. This is AUTOart’s 1/18 Honda Integra Type R, better known as the Acura RSX over here in the states. In my opinion, the Integra is the coolest sports car ever produced by Honda. Not the NSX. Not the S2000. This.

It’s a (nowadays) rare model that I’ve been keeping an eye out for, but prices have been holding me back until now. New or mint ones can reach nearly $200. This blue example here is the first I remember seeing on the Bay, as all the others have been black. And I managed to get it for just $70 shipped. How did I finally score one for the low?

Take a look...

Yes, that’s right. This model basically came in pieces. But there’s one very important thing to note, and it’s that all of the pieces are there. No missing mirrors or wipers, no cracked windows, and no paint defects, scratches, chips, etc. All I needed was a couple hours and my trusty tube of Krazy Glue to stitch it all together. Multiple operations later, it looks just like new with the exception that the right-side door is glued shut. But you already know I love my sealed resin models, so this is a non-issue.

Worth it.

I honestly could not be happier or prouder to finally have one of these in the collection. The blue paint looks gorgeous here, evoking shades of Bayside Blue for the R34 Skyline. Type R trim means that we get that giant wing in the back, which is a must-have if you own or plan to own the real version of this car. As this is JDM (a sticker on the box even reminds you that the real car cannot be purchased in the U.S.), it’s right-hand-drive and with red Honda badges to complete the look.

Ugh. Love it.

This might be my best purchase this year. But I assure you, there’s a pretty damn nice one coming soon.
