Before buying a car (of any scale), it is always a good idea to read or watch reviews (or you can watch reviews for fun, like me). While looking for good videos to watch (like ones from Dala Hobbies), I came across a review of the 1/18 Welly Bentley Continental GT SuperSports. In that video, the reviewer said that of the 1200 or so 1/18 he owned (!!!!!), this was his favorite budget* model. That’s a pretty bold statement. So after a little research, most everyone who owns this car loves it. But do I love it too? Let’s find out!
*Note: when I say budget, I mean sticker price of less than $50
AUTOart, why’d you forget the perforated grilles? Seriously, that’s how good it is. All the little badges, lettering, buttons, dials, knobs, lights, and even the engine are done to AUTOart levels, not Maisto levels. So why is it missing a point? The vents on the, well, aren’t vents. It’s just an indentation on the hood.
Fit and Finish: 8/10
Most everything is solid and well-built. The paint has one flaw, which for a budget model has to be a new record. My only gripe with the entire car is this: it just doesn’t roll well. The problem is that the front wheels aren’t aligned well so it always drifts to one way or the other. Other than that it feels like...a Bentley. Simple as that.
Opening hood, doors, and trunk. Spring suspension. Nuff said.
It was $30 with $10 flat-rate shipping. Most sell for between $40 and $50, but why pay more? For the quality and detail of this model, the value should be more like 11/10.
Rarity: For model: 7/10
I found 33 on eBay which is decently rare for a budget car, but...
For color: 10/10
I only found 1 listing for Matt Grey! I’m a bit curious why they are so rare...
Total: For model: 41
For color: 44
Should you get one? YES!!!!!! For $30 you’d be losing money not getting it! This is far and away my favorite budget model. If you like 1/18, do yourself a favor and get this model. You won’t regret it!
