Big things with little cars

Wagon Wednesday

This is the Audi A4 Avant, by Siku.

I’m a bit later than usual with my feature today, and that’s because I’ve been busy working on my Lego project. I’m testing out the drivetrain and it works quite well right now. I’m very pleased with the progress thus far, and I’ll have an update on it in the coming few days. For today, I leave you guys with this.

Not an Audi fan by any means, but this is a great casting. Just take a look at that grille and tell me it’s not well done. Plastic headlamps? Check. How about taillights? Check. Base-connected grille inserts? Yes! The only thing that bothers me are the wheels, which have zero depth and used widely throughout the Siku range. Although they match the real ones quite well, they’re like a plague that spreads throughout Siku’s products, making otherwise great models look shockingly cheap. Still though, it’s worth picking up if you have Siku available near you. Keep in mind this is 1/55 scale, so it’s not for everyone.
