Switched to rustoleum only.
Gave it a base/primer coat of rustoleum flat white.
Let it dry for 48 hours.
Sprayed the first color coat, let it dry for 48 hours.
An almost perfect gloss finish.
Attempted to go for a second coat and, immediately, THIS happened:
It’s like the paint was trying to jump of the car!
It started wrinkling as I was spraying it, I’ve never seen anything like it. Well, it’s more or less the same thing that happened when I tried to spray krylon clear over krylon color, but this was the same spray can that I used for the first coat with no problem. (Also, the krylon thing happened gradually as it was drying...)
I shook the can for more than the 2 minutes suggested, it was indoors, room temperature, I had no problem with the first coat, but I digress.
The paint that didn’t wrinkle up started to run off the car and drip, like it couldn’t wait to get off. I know I’m giving the paint consciousness that it can’t possibly possess, but I’m starting to have doubts concerning my own sanity...
I have written to the rustoleum company and asked them what could have caused this.
