I got the bug lately for some Yatmings. I had a bunch as a kid, and was somewhat turned off by the knock-off nature of them…which is sort of what appeals to me now. They aren’t entirely rare, but not entirely common…and there are a lot of interesting variations if you do your homework. Plus, for the most part, they’re not crazy expensive (in line with their somewhat questionable build quality). I posted the Nissan Gloria I found recently, and it’s become one of my favorites in my collection. So here we go!
The Dodge Charger: Obvious homage to the Falken Livery. I’m not sure when this was made, or if it somehow pre-dates the actual Falken livery, but it’s surely fun. I stuck some of the HW Falkens in the back...although I’m not sure how they feel about the black sheep here...
This one is also quickly becoming an all-time favorite…the Datsun Z. It’s also a homage to the Bob Sharp Racing Zs…even including the Canon sponsorship indicated by the inclusion of the AE-1 (also notated as A-E1 on the hood). Both this and the Falken Dodge’s approximation of famous liverys is something I find really endearing.
The ‘Supper” Celica…I want to attempt a custom with this one, perhaps when I find another one.
The Toyota 2000GT…this one is fairly nice.
And the previously posted Gloria.
I have more on the way, and am looking forward to featuring more at some point.
